HOW DOES IT WORK? 

The DriveABLE On-Road Evaluation (DORE) is one of the only driving tests that compare the driving errors of healthy drivers against drivers that are cognitively impaired. The DORE is licensed for use to experienced on-road evaluators with a DriveABLE standardized road course. The scoring system focuses on the driving errors that signal cognitive impairment. To protect the competent driver, the scoring system explicitly excludes errors that are made by experienced, healthy drivers and not associated with competence decline.

A Taggart’s staff person will then contact you within two business days directly to schedule an appointment for the evaluation. Once the in-car evaluation is completed, the instructor/examiner will enter the results on the DriveABLE server, which will then be provided electronically following HIPAA guidelines to your physician/hospital rehabilitation service or other medical provider for evaluation by the referring medical professional. Your medical professional will then schedule a meeting with you to discuss the results of your assessment.

The fee for the DriveABLE On-Road Evaluation by Taggart’s Driving School is $259.00, which is paid when the appointment is made with the Taggart’s staff person on the telephone or via e-mail (MasterCard, Visa and American Express accepted). The fee includes the on-road portion of the DORE assessment and preparation and transfer of the results to your physician or other medical provider. The patient is responsible for transportation to the evaluation site and their return home (transportation to and from the evaluation starting point is available for an additional charge). It is strongly recommended that the patient does not drive themselves to the evaluation site. The actual driving portion of the D.O.R.E and report preparation will take approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours. (Medicare reimbursement may be possible for this evaluation.)
