🕕🚗Six-Hour Defensive Driving Course — DDS Licensed


Taggart’s Driver Improvement Clinic, licensed by the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS), offers a comprehensive six-hour Defensive Driving Program.
This course is approved by Georgia courts and recognized by many out-of-state jurisdictions. It fulfills a variety of purposes — from ticket dismissal to insurance discounts and point reduction.


Why Take This Course?


⚖️❌Ticket Dismissal


Many Georgia judges will dismiss or withhold processing of a moving violation when the offender successfully completes this six-hour program.
This means:

  • No points added to your driver’s record
  • No report sent to your insurance company
  • No increase in insurance premiums



👧UNDER AGE 18 SUSPENSION

Drivers under 18 who accumulate four or more points within a 12-month period will have their license suspended for six months.
Completion of this six-hour DDS-approved course is required before reinstatement.


👨‍🎓UNDER AGE 21 SUSPENSION

Drivers under 21 will have their license suspended for a minimum of six months for a single moving violation that results in four or more points.
This commonly includes speeding 24 mph or more over the limit.
Before reinstatement, the driver must complete the six-hour Defensive Driving Course.



🛑POINTS REDUCTION

Georgia law allows licensed drivers to take this course once every five years to remove up to seven points from their driving record.
The DDS often notifies eligible drivers before they accumulate enough points for a suspension.

INSURANCE/POINTS REDUCTION PROGRAM TUITION


💰INSURANCE DISCOUNTS

Drivers 25 years or older with a clean driving record for the past three years may qualify for an auto insurance discount of at least 10% under O.C.G.A. 33-9-42.


Program Highlights:

  • 10% insurance discount valid for three years
  • Discounts apply to most Georgia insurance carriers
  • Couples listed on the same policy may take the course together for a joint discount

LICENSE SUSPENSION

If a Georgia driver accumulates 15 points within 24 months, the DDS will suspend their driving privileges until they complete this six-hour Defensive Driving Program.
A second suspension within five years requires completion of the same course before reinstatement.


💸FINE REDUCTION / NO POINTS

Points Reduction

Georgia law allows licensed drivers to take this course once every five years to remove up to seven points from their driving record.
The DDS often notifies eligible drivers before they accumulate enough points for a suspension.

 

Fine Reduction / No Points

Certain Georgia courts may offer a 20% fine reduction and no points added to your record upon completion of this DDS-certified course.

  • Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. (sharp start time — no late admission)
  • Tuesdays/Wednesdays: 6:00 p.m. via Zoom

⚠️Note: Students must arrive on time. Late entry is not permitted per DDS regulations.

 

💻Virtual & In-Person Options

Our Defensive Driving Program is now available both in-person and online via live Zoom sessions led by certified instructors.

🧾Student Responsibilities

  • Bring a pen, notebook, and valid driver’s license
  • Inform your instructor before class why you’re taking the course (ticket dismissal, points reduction, insurance, etc.)
  • Students are responsible for registering for the correct course type
  • DDS certificates are issued only after full attendance and participation
