CLASSES

CLASSES OFFERED

Taggart’s Basic Driver Education Program, licensed by the Georgia Department of Driver Services, consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of private, individual, behind-the-wheel training.

Lessons are set up by the hour, with a recommended two-hour minimum. The time of the lesson begins when your instructor picks you up at home or another location. During the first lesson the instructor will be teaching and evaluating your driving. At the completion of this lesson, the instructor will present a recommendation to you, outlining approximately how many lessons you will need to enable you to pass the Georgia Department of Driver Services road test and become a safe, confident and defensive driver.

Many judges in the state of Georgia will dismiss or non-process a ticket for a moving violation if the offender completes the six-hour program. This works well for the driver because the ticket dismissal will result in no notation on their driver’s record with the state. Therefore insurance companies will not be aware of a ticket having been issued for a moving violation.

Individuals 25 years of age or older, who have a clean driving record for the previous three years and take the six-hour program shall be eligible, pursuant to O.C.G.A. 33-9-42, to obtain not less than a 10% discount on their automobile insurance premium. This discount is valid for the next three years. Often couples, who are the two named drivers on an insurance policy, will take this program together to qualify for the joint insurance discount.

Taggart’s Driving School is now offering a six-hour Online Driver Improvement /Defensive Driving Course. Taggart’s Online Driver Improvement Course is provided in response to the decision of many courts in the State of Georgia, under pre-trial diversion practices, to accept a completion certificate from an online provider for ticket dismissal, or downgrading of a traffic ticket. Taggart’s Online Driver Improvement Course features the same curriculum taught by licensed and approved Georgia Department of Driver Services classroom programs, and is written specifically to review Georgia traffic law, rules and regulations.
